Preventing IT security risks

After identification and mitigation of IT security risks, it is very important that new IT security risks are prevented.

Security by Design

Preventing a risk or problem is always better and less expensive than solving one afterwards. With important IT projects, the responsibility for IT security should be clearly arranged and high quality IT security expertise should be available during the project. This is a relatively scarce asset which is usually not at hand within the own organization. Madison Gurkha is specialized in (technical) IT Security and can provide high quality expertise (on project base) by using methods such as:

  • IT security management
  • Secure design of new sites and extranets
  • DMZ architecture
  • Authentication and authorization
  • Virus- and spam control
  • Server hardening
  • Formulating IT security guidelines
  • Reviewing functional and technical designs
  • Formulating guidelines for hosting/development
  • Formulating and reviewing IT security SLA's

IT Security Training

Acquiring and transferring knowledge in the form of education and workshops are of great importance because also in this case, people usually form the weakest link. In our daily work, we are constantly faced with the same problems. Our knowledge of these problems and how to prevent them, form the basis of our IT security Training. This traning will let you learn from our experiences and mistakes made by others. Madison Gurkha provides the following in-company training:

  • Security Awareness (2 hour session)
  • Secure Programming Awareness (2 hour session)
  • Secure Programming Training (2 day session
  • Applied Hacking (2-3 day session)
  • Introduction IT Forensics & Incident Response (2 day session)

Together with Tunix we also offer the secure programming training in classes. More information and a subscription form can be found at www.tunix.nl.

Periodical audits

Of course organizations should not forget to regularly check up on the security of their own IT environments. Trusting providers, web-builders and IT departments is a good thing, but regular testing is even better. New software bugs are being found every week, the functionality of the website is being increased, the website becomes a great success and more hardware is being installed to better cope with the growth etc. etc. which therefore leads to new IT security risks. We together can make them comprehensible and controllable.
